The current, and crumbling, heating system was installed in St Peter’s church back in the mid-1960s and is now in such a bad state that the burners have been decommissioned.
The much-needed installation is required ahead of winter to ensure that the place of worship is protected against the increasingly cold months ahead, as well as keeping the congregation and other visitors warm.
R&Co has already used its public relations expertise and close media contacts to highlight the plight of St Peter’s Church in the most popular local newspapers – the Leamington Observer and the Leamington Courier – with articles appearing online and in print.
The agency has also taken the lead on the church’s social media activity to promote the appeal via Facebook, TikTok and Instagram, as well as setting up a GoFundMe page.
Peter Robinson, managing director at R&Co, said: “St Peter’s has been at the heart of the local community for more than 150 years and provided a focal point for parishioners, visitors and those who have an interest in Leamington life.
“It’s vital that it continues to do so for many years to come, which is why we’re supporting St Peter’s fundraising activities and appeals for monetary donations with an integrated PR and social campaign to raise awareness of its plight and help it reach the £100,000 target.”
Parish Priest of the church, Father Stephen Day, said: ““We’ve already held a number of fundraising events, and plan to do more, but we’re still a long way from reaching what we need so would be very grateful to any Good Samaritans who are able to donate to our appeal.”
