Can you support The Myton Hospices this Christmas and beyond?

The Myton Hospices is appealing to businesses across the region to play a vital part in its festive fundraising campaigns and support its current Urgent Appeal to raise £240,000 and fund five new nurses.

Here at Myton, Christmas takes on a very special, poignant meaning.

Can you support The Myton Hospices this Christmas and beyond?

Many patients and their families will be facing what may be their last Christmas together – doing all they can to make every moment as special as it can be and create forever memories.

We rely, almost entirely, on the support of the local community across Coventry and Warwickshire to fund the amazing work we do to care for patients with a terminal illness and their families.

This year alone, we need to raise a staggering £11 million of the £14,3 million it costs to continue providing our services, free of charge, to patients and their loved ones.

We are not the NHS – we are a charity and just 20% of our funding comes from the NHS.

Last year we supported thousands of people and their families, in our hospices, via our patients and family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home.

Which is why the season of good will is even more important to us than most.

And, which is why we are appealing to our fellow Chamber members to help us continue this work, to dig deep at a time we know it could be hard to do so, and support us in any way you can.

As always, we would be delighted if you were able to take part in our Festive Fun Days – simply picking a day in the run up to Christmas where you undertake some kind of fundraising for us - either having a Christmas Jumper/dress down day, festive quizzes, Christmas Tote Cards etc and donating  few pounds to the cause.
All money raised this festive season will go directly to our Urgent Appeal where we are trying to raise £240,000 to fund the recruitment and training of five new nurses.

More people need a Hospice Bed now that ever before – and demand for our Inpatient Units has increased by 11% in the last 12 months.

Tragically, too many people – a shocking three out of five – people on the waiting list for a bed at Myton will die before they can access one.

It is this urgent and heart-breaking situation that we are aiming to tackle with our new appeal and your support.

Chris Willmott, Partnerships Manager at The Myton Hospices, said: “Christmas is a key fundraising time for us at Myton – and a great opportunity for our supporters to have some fun while raising vital money to fund our work and support our patients and their families.

“We have lots of ways to get involved, but are happy for people to raise money in any way that suits them.
“This year, our Urgent Appeal has become our primary focus as we want to do everything we can to ensure Myton is there for more people when they need us most.

“We simply cannot do what we do without your support – and anything our fellow Chamber members are able to so to help us when we need it most too – would be so gratefully and warmly received.”

All of the details of the above – and much more - can be found on our website: www.mytonhospice.org.
And the corporate team at Myton are always on-hand to answer any questions and support you through your fundraising journey.

Just contact Chris Willmott on [email protected] Martin Watts at: [email protected] or Emily Wilkinson at: [email protected] to find out how you can help and how we can help you on your festive fundraising journey.

Thank you – and Merry Christmas on behalf of everyone at The Myton Hospices.
