The journey started off early on a Saturday morning, this is where the team first got to meet the others taking part in the EnviroDrive, as well as a look around the charging station for the first time.
The drive itself was a bit of a competition to see which team could complete the route in the most “fuel” efficient and environmentally friendly way, while coming first! The MX-30 was charged on a fast 350kW charger within 40 minutes so after a quick refreshment and an explore of one of Europe's first dedicated EV charging stations, we were ready to set out on the 100 mile journey.
We got off to a rocky start with our navigator struggling to adjust to the new rally style way of navigating, but once the basics had been established we started to make good progress to the half way point.
Upon catching up with the other drivers and reaching the half way point, we arrived at a beautiful airfield, and observed a fantastic Glider Aircraft take to the skies, although none of the team fancied putting themselves forward for a go.
After some light refreshments we hopped back into the car for the last 40 miles of the trip, staying on track we made it all the way to the charging station in Norwich and got the Mazda on charge right away.
It was a truly fantastic trip, and a great voluntary activity to be part of, doing our bit to encourage the change to electric.
For every mile we travelled, we also wanted to raise £1 to donate to the Just One Tree charity, who will plant a tree for every £1 raised. Green 4 Motor Company will then match all the money raised.
