The new space allows Finham Park 2 to accommodate an additional 60 pupils at the school.

Cllr Dr Kindy Sandhu, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills at Coventry City Council, was joined by Chair of the Finham Park Multi Academy Trust Peter Burns MBE, Executive Headteacher Mark Bailie, Headteacher Will Keddie, students at Finham Park 2 and representatives from Deeley Construction at an event to celebrate the refurbishment’s completion.

The majority of the project was completed over the summer break and the new spaces are ready to be used by students at the school in Tile Hill.

Deeley Construction was appointed by Coventry City Council to complete the project which has seen the transformation of three areas of the site.

Two new design and technology classrooms have been created in the Edwards Keep building at the school, with a new STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) classroom also created.

Students can also enjoy a new food technology classroom, which is set to be kitted out with the latest modern appliances, and the new multi-use pitch which doubles the outdoor sport space at the school.

Will Keddie, Headteacher at Finham Park 2, said: “We pride ourselves on providing world-class education at Finham Park 2 and having cutting-edge facilities is a huge part of that.

“The new facilities will help us equip our young people with the skills they need to directly support the needs of the economy here in Coventry.

“Students here have been really enthused by the facilities and I think if you create the environment that supports the mindset of being valued, that will be reflected in how they approach the subjects and their work.

“It’s critical that schools are able to reflect the future careers that young people will be going in to, and investments like this supports us to do that.”

The refurbishment project was supported by Glancy Nicholls Architects, Couch Perry & Wilkes LLP, CW Engineering and PMP Consultants.

Martin Gallagher, Managing Director of Deeley Construction, added: “This is the latest in a long line of projects completed by Deeley Construction which we are proud to say have had a positive impact on the education of young people in Coventry.

“Our on-site team worked throughout the summer on this project and then ensured minimal disruption to staff and students when they returned in September.

“It was great to be able to partner again with Coventry City Council on this project that will bring lasting benefits to present and future students at Finham Park 2.”

Cllr Dr Kindy Sandhu, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: “The new spaces are unrecognisable from when I visited at the start of this project and it’s great to have this facility for young people.

“Facilities like this are what young people deserve. This wouldn’t be possible without the partnership between the school, the Deeley Group and the local council. This was completed on time, on budget and to a high quality, which is a testament to that partnership.

“For young people to have a facility like this, which shows they are valued, will I’m sure have a long-term positive impact on their lives.”
