Coventry venue to be transformed into water leisure haven - with energy saving a hot topic

Energy saving hot tubs, saunas and spas that are supporting the water leisure industry’s sustainability drive will be the focus at a major show in Coventry.

SPATEX 2023 is the UK’s only dedicated pool and spa show. It is now in its 27th year and showcases the latest and most innovative hot tubs, saunas, enclosures, pergolas and steam rooms.

Coventry venue to be transformed into water leisure haven - with energy saving a hot topic

More than 40 hot tubs, swim spas and swimming pools will be on display at Coventry Building Society Arena from Tuesday, January 31 to Thursday, February 2.

With rising energy prices and a drive toward sustainability, more energy efficient products - from heat pumps to heat-saving covers - will be the focus of the show, which will make it more affordable in the long-term for people to have wellness havens in their own homes.

The show in Coventry attracts the world’s leading suppliers and manufacturers, with over 100 exhibitors and more than 1,400 visitors across the two days.

It will also mark the launch of a major fundraising campaign by the Swimming Teachers’ Association (STA) and British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) Swim to the Beat fundraising campaign.

The campaign invites swim schools, clubs and leisure facilities to participate in fundraising for the month of February – which is Heart Month, with money raised funding vital research into heart and circulatory diseases.

Michele Bridle, event organiser of SPATEX, said: “The latest generation of one-piece swimming pools are easy and quick to install, as well as being more efficient to run.

“All that is needed is a pre-prepared hole to which the pool is lowered in, this is then backfilled with soil and filled with water and hey presto – your pool is ready for swimmers within a week of installation.

“Saving energy is at the top of the agenda in the water leisure industry and we will be focusing on that at our show too.

“More than ever before, people in the UK have been embracing the numerous health and social benefits of water leisure for the last few years. Swim spas, also known as exercise spas, are massively popular and great if space is limited. Offering a counter water current, against which the swimmer exercises, they’re a fun way of working out. So too, are underwater exercise bikes.

“There has been an increasing number of people staying in the UK for the summer too and by creating a haven of wellness in your house and garden makes that an even more attractive possibility.

“We’re delighted to be bringing the show back to Coventry Building Society Arena.”

The show will feature a double seminar and workshop programme with 46 new topics on the maintenance of pools and hot tubs and promoting new ways of saving energy.

Paul Michael, Commercial Director at Coventry Building Society Arena, said: “We have hosted SPATEX for the last nine years and it has been a staple of our exhibition programme during that time.

“The show transforms our main exhibition hall into a showroom for innovation in water leisure and we’re pleased to be working with the organisers for another year.”
