Children and their parents will embark on a ten-stop tour of major city centre spots including the old and new cathedrals, as well as the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum and Coventry Transport Museum to engage with the city’s celebrated history and discover some of its lesser-known quirks.

The trail, created by Visit Coventry, Coventry City Council and Culture Coventry – supported by Coventry City of Culture Trust, was unveiled during English Tourism Week, with around 100 young ambassadors taking part before the programme becomes available to the general public in time for Easter.

Each child will be given a copy of the trail to follow, with the challenge of scouting various city centre sites for the answers to ten Coventry-related questions. When successful, they will receive a pin-badge to mark their success.

Ruark Jon-Stevens, Marketing & Communications Manager at Culture Coventry, said: “We’re hoping the city centre will be filled with a sense of adventure this Easter as families explore Coventry’s landmarks.

“The trail encourages children to engage with the city’s history, learn something new and most importantly have fun. It’s a great way for parents to reconnect with the city too.”

Cllr Jim O’Boyle, Cabinet Member for Jobs and Regeneration, said: “There are some lovely venues and attractions in Coventry city centre which are full of history with great stories to tell and offer amazing things to see and do.

“This new trail will give children a fun and engaging way to explore the city centre and I have no doubt they will learn plenty of new facts about Coventry along the way!”
