Over two years, trainees will work in four different areas of practice, supervised by an assigned mentor, with their own files to manage, and a competitive salary starting at £23,500 moving up to £25,000.
Applications for the trainee positions will close on May 27, with interviews in August and successful candidates starting in September 2021.
Paul Gregson, Director of HR at Wright Hassall, said: “A law degree is not necessarily a prerequisite for a future in the law, after all many great lawyers started down a different academic path. In the past, we have been joined by people from other professions wanting to retrain as lawyers, as well as law students who join us straight from university and who have always known that they wanted a career in the law.
“First and foremost, our priority is to recruit interesting people: our trainees need to be able to talk to clients, be at ease with colleagues, and with themselves.
“Our training and development programme will help you to become a great lawyer: if you can bring commitment, the right attitude and an appetite to learn, you need to apply.”
A number of former trainees have gone on to great things at Wright Hassall, including senior associate Katie Alsop, who was named as one of the ‘2018 ePrivateClient Top 35 Under 35’ for her work in contentious probate, and solicitor Patrick McCallum, who recently received a YoungPro award for his work in the commercial team.
Patrick said: “When joining a firm of this size you may be concerned about the quality of work you will be given, or the difficulty of getting to know people, but nothing could be further from the truth.
“Everyone is friendly and welcoming and you’ll be surprised how quickly you’ll get involved.
“The partners and senior fee-earners trust you to work to a high standard, which means you can get stuck into some really interesting assignments from the outset and hone your legal skills.”
