Mayor of the West Midlands and Chair of the West Midlands Combined Authority, Andy Street, will join Leader of Warwickshire County Council, Councillor Izzi Seccombe, to congratulate and acknowledge the achievements of a number of the county’s small to medium sized businesses who have been invited to the networking event.
The event, which will also be attended by regional CEOs and representatives from the county’s professional services, will be held in the magnificent historic surroundings of the Grade I listed The Great Hall at The Old Shire Hall venue on Northgate Street, in the heart of Warwick.
Formerly used by her Majesty’s Court Service as the County Crown Court, and with a heritage dating back to the 15th century, The Old Shire Hall is now a unique conference, weddings and fine dining venue managed by Warwickshire County Council, with a track record for hosting high profile civic events and successful business networking events.
Warwickshire County Council has awarded £1.34 million in grants to businesses all across Warwickshire in the past 3 years, leading to the creation of 104 new jobs and enabling start-up businesses in the county to invest in the facilities, equipment and skills that they need to grow.
According to global innovation foundation NESTA, just 6% of high growth firms are responsible for 50% of employment growth.
Ten businesses that have received Small Capital Grants from the Council’s Capital Growth Fund, who between them are expecting to create 48 new jobs and apprenticeships, will feature in a short film that will be shown at the event.
The film promotes the work of the businesses, highlighting the help and support they have received from Warwickshire County Council, working with partners, and the difference this has made to them and the local economy.
Councillor Izzi Seccombe will talk to delegates about the importance of local high growth businesses to the development and continued vibrancy of Warwickshire’s economy, and underline Warwickshire County Council’s support for the SME business community.
Mayor Andy Street will talk about the West Midlands Combined Authority’s support for high growth businesses and what this means for Warwickshire.
Speaking ahead of the event, Councillor Izzi Seccombe said: “Warwickshire is full of so many diverse and interesting businesses, and Warwickshire County Council is committed to helping our business community to maximise their potential.
“Through this event, we will be celebrating some real success stories of companies that have benefited from our small business grants scheme, and looking at what more we can do to help support our small businesses to grow and prosper.
“I’m delighted that I will be joined at The Old Shire Hall by Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street, to acknowledge the impact of Warwickshire businesses on the regional economy.”
The event has been organised by Warwickshire County Council to promote Warwickshire as a fantastic place to do business to significant regional influencers.
