In April the club were confirmed as National One champions after a record-breaking season in which they lost only 3 of their 30 games and they will now compete in the Championship with Premiership rugby very much the long-term goal.
A lot of Coventry’s success in the last couple of seasons has been down to the appointment of Rowland Winter as Director of Rugby. Wholesale changes to the coaching and playing staff under his leadership have seen the club's fortunes change dramatically and with prudent financial oversight from Chairman Jon Sharp and the Board, improvements to the club's infrastructure and ground facilities mean that the club should be extremely competitive even in the Championship.
Coventry Rugby Club is currently looking to redevelop the ground further with plans to increase the capacity to 12,000 as well as building a mixed development of business and leisure and entertainment facilities on-site to include a sports’ hall and gymnasium, cafés and bars as well as some living accommodation.
These are exciting times to be a supporter of Coventry Rugby Club and Utility Team is extremely proud to be sponsoring Coventry Rugby Club this season. Whilst such a relationship greatly increases Utility Team’ own exposure within the local community, the company is also aware that by sponsoring Coventry Rugby Club it is also giving something back to the people of Coventry, especially through Coventry’s close links with local schools and colleges and the excellent outreach work it does with disadvantaged children.
As part of the sponsorship deal, Utility Team will be the official match day sponsor of the eagerly anticipated first meeting next Saturday, 25th August, between Coventry and Premiership side Wasps.
A large crowd is expected at the Butts Park Arena for what should be an exciting contest between the two clubs.
We will be inviting business associates to a three-course sit-down meal prior to the game which will be an excellent opportunity to take part in some informal networking, as well as enjoying a fantastic afternoon of high class rugby.
Like Utility Team, Coventry Rugby Club are very much a forward-thinking company and we are excited to be supporting them in their 2018/19 campaign and beyond. We would like nothing better to see them promoted into the Premiership and in so doing make Coventry a true rugby city.
