Representatives from Visit Coventry, the Coventry City of Culture Trust, Coombe Abbey, The Wave, Culture Coventry, Wasps/Ricoh Arena, Coventry Cathedral and Brandon Hall Hotel attended the show across two days.
The stand featured a stunning photograph of Coventry Cathedral Quarter submitted by Mandip Seehra after a call-out for a fresh image to help sell the city to the national audience.
The Coventry delegation said the feedback on the city was very positive and that its improved offer to group travellers and families was a talking point at the two-day show.
Councillor Jim O’Boyle, Cabinet Member for Jobs and Regeneration, said: “It’s the second year that we have had a team at the British Travel and Tourism Show since Coventry was named UK City of Culture for 2021.
“The first year there was certainly a feeling that the industry was sitting up and taking notice of Coventry and the team reported even more interest this year. Tourism is a really valuable sector and it supports thousands of jobs in the city.
“Being named City of Culture gives a platform to build on and with Go Ape and The Wave opening soon we have a really great offer for families who we hope will extend their stay to a whole day or even a weekend.”
Carla Crawley, of Coventry Cathedral, said: “We spoke to lots of new contacts during the show and now we will revisit them in the coming weeks to help enhance the number of trips that group travel organisers run to the city, which will have a positive knock-on effect for the tourism industry in Coventry.”
She added: “We approached Igers Coventry & Warwickshire before the show to put a call out for a new imagery that could help to promote the city on our stand and we were thrilled with what came through from Mandip.
“It got a lot of positive comments from visitors to our stand and was a great showcase for the city.”
The stand also featured the images from Ivan Petcov who also showcases his work on social media channels through Igers Coventry & Warwickshire.
The stand was part-funded by the Cultural Destinations project; supported by Arts Council England, being led by the Coventry City of Culture Trust in partnership with Coventry City Council and the Coventry & Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
The Wave, which is a £36.7m new waterpark, will open later in the year while the new Go Ape attraction at Coombe Abbey opens in April.
