Andrew Spriggs, Treasurer for the group explained,
“The Friday Afternoon Crew is a golf society founded originally to take the occasional Friday afternoon off work to play golf. The society has expanded to some 80 members from the Stratford area who enjoy both competitive and friendly golf whilst visiting golf clubs in the Midlands but at the same time look to support worthy causes.
This originally involved charities with a direct connection to the Crew on an ad-hoc basis but since 2017 we have concentrated our fundraising to the Shakespeare Hospice which fulfills the criteria of being local but provides invaluable services to the whole of the local community.
The FAC rely on the support of the golf clubs who both donate vouchers and provide complimentary services but primarily it is the support of the members that make the FAC what it is today.”
Gavin Daniels, Fundraising spokesperson for The Shakespeare Hospice said,
“The Friday Afternoon Crew have hosted a fantastic number events over the last year.
These funds are vital to the Hospice during our current campaign to raise five hundred thousand pounds to continue our outstanding services.
The Friday Afternoon Crew are fantastic supporters of The Shakespeare Hospice and we look forward to working with them throughout 2019 and for many years to come”.
