Regional construction contractor Stepnell has finished work on a brand-new supermarket for Lidl in Bedford.
Situated on the eastern edge of the town, Bedford’s new Lidl store in Goldington Road features a single-storey building with a large glazed frontage, modern interior and a 126-space free car park. The development also features a 555 sq m warehouse area. It is Lidl’s third store in Bedford.
The multimillion pound, 2,206 sq m supermarket is one of three Lidl stores currently being built by Stepnell, with two others currently under construction in Droitwich, Worcestershire and Loughborough, Leicestershire. Stepnell, which is a member of Lidl UK’s construction framework, has also previously successfully completed stores for the supermarket retailer at King’s Heath, Birmingham and Oakham, Rutland.
“We’re delighted to have delivered this contemporary supermarket building in Bedford through our highly-valued partnership with Lidl which is helping answer the demand for new Lidl stores across the UK,” says Stepnell construction director Bill Haynes.
“Our team possesses wide-ranging retail expertise and experience of fast-track construction ensuring that we are well-placed to assist in the delivery of Lidl’s ambitious store expansion programme.”
