Employment law dictates that an employer has 2 months to issue a contract of employment (statement of main terms) to a new employee. A recent case has seen an employee dismissed after only 4 weeks service but has successfully claimed at tribunal for non issue of contract and won this claim.
With the average Tribunal case currently taking 12-18 months to be heard this process both in terms of time and expense is something to be avoided at all costs.
