The Being Well Festival aims to promote happier, healthier lives by educating people about their health and general wellness, and is being held at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena in October.
The free event on Thursday 24 October will give visitors the opportunity to shop at a ‘wellbeing marketplace’, take part in activities and taster sessions, hear from inspirational speakers and get one-to-one advice on health and wellbeing.
As part of the day, there will also be a special ticketed lunch, celebrating some very inspirational people and featuring star guest chef Jane Devonshire, MasterChef 2016 winner, who has had her own battle with breast cancer.
The festival coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Mary Rhodes, BBC Presenter and Chair of the Breast Cancer Haven Development Board, believes the festival is a great way for people to learn how to make changes to their lives to improve their health.
She said: “We can all find a way to look after ourselves through better nutritional choices, increased physical activity and a more conscious approach to our overall health.
“The Being Well Festival aims to assist with all of this. So whether you’re going through breast cancer, experiencing other health issues or are just more conscious of a need to change your lifestyle, we’re here to help.
“I hope people see the Being Well Festival as an opportunity to learn more and to make positive changes to their health and wellbeing.”
Ricoh Arena is also anchor sponsor of the Being Well Festival which is hoping to attract thousands of visitors, while other cancer charities will have an opportunity to feature at the event.
Nick Eastwood, Chief Executive of the Wasps Group, which owns the sports, business and entertainment venue, said: “Health and wellbeing is rightly at the top of people’s agenda and the Being Well Festival will allow everyone to access a huge range of advice and guidance.
“Being very much involved in sport right across the range from elite athletes to community events, we fully appreciate the need to be in the best condition mentally and physically and we will be working with the organisers to ensure a successful and very relevant day for all those who attend.
“The Being Well Festival is a chance for people to really learn more about their health, no matter what their individual circumstances are.”
Breast Cancer Haven, which will benefit from funds raised on the day, operates from eight locations with four in the Midlands. The charity offers emotional, physical and practical support for anyone affected by breast cancer including one-to-one therapy for visitors, as well as counselling for their family and friends.
Although the event is free, guests will need to book tickets to attend.
