Leamington solicitor named amongst law industry's elite

Katie Alsop, who studied for her LLB law degree at Coventry University and now works as an associate at leading Midlands firm Wright Hassall, has been named as one of the ‘2018 ePrivateClient Top 35 Under 35’ for her work in contentious probate.

ePrivateClient is the number one news source for private client practitioners, including lawyers, accountants, trustees and fee-based Independent Financial Advisers, making the achievement a prestigious one for Katie, 34.

Her ‘non-traditional’ route into law saw Katie study part-time for a law degree while working as a junior secretary and then a paralegal.

She studied her Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in Birmingham alongside her training contract at Wright Hassall before qualifying in 2011 into the contentious probate team.

Katie said: “I am honoured to have been selected as one of the top 35 private client practitioners in my age bracket.

“Working for Wright Hassall has allowed me to take on some extremely complex and challenging cases which have been crucial in my development.

“Despite my route into law being out of the ordinary I have been given so many opportunities to grow and push myself.

“I am looking forward to continuing my work with the company over the coming years and would like to thank all of my colleagues for their support so far.”

Katie has been invited to a champagne reception in London by ePrivateClient, where the top 35 men and 35 women will be given an opportunity to meet each other and some of the UK’s top practitioners.

Various statements nominating Katie for recognition in the ePrivateClient Top 35 Under 35 list noted that her unique start has held her in good stead as she developed her skills.

Sarah Perry, Managing Partner at Wright Hassall, said: “Her non-traditional route to becoming a solicitor immediately marked her out as a person of exceptional determination and dedication.

“Professionally, Katie has flourished, fulfilling her early promise as an effective lawyer.

“She demonstrated her capacity for hard work while studying part-time and working as a paralegal, and the discipline this required has never left her.”
