Anya Court Care Home on Dunchurch Road, will host a weekly session called Songs & Smiles held in association with not-for-profit social enterprise, The Together Project.
Songs & Smiles has been designed to entertain and engage everyone from the youngest to the oldest members of the group, through singing, movement, instruments, coloured scarves and bubbles.
Each session lasts approximately an hour, with the creative activity followed by refreshments and a meet and mingle with the homes residents and care team.
The purpose of the activity is to reduce loneliness, improve well-being, tackle ageism and unite local communities through joyful intergenerational activities.
Lifestyles Team Leader at Anya Court, Sue Mitchell said: “We are delighted to be hosting a weekly Songs & Smiles activity at our home as we know that intergenerational activities can help to improve both the residents’ physical and emotional well-being.
“We are really looking forward to our first session and we hope that local parents and their little ones will come along and join us for a great morning of socialisation and fun.”
Founder of The Together Project, Louise Goulden said: “We're so pleased to have partnered with Anya Court Care Home. It means we can spread the Songs & Smiles joy to children, parents and older people within the Rugby community, bringing everyone together for music, fun and friendship.
“It's an exciting step for The Together Project and we're thrilled to be working with a care home that shares our commitment to enriching the lives of people living in residential care.”
Anya Court’s first Songs & Smiles session will take place on Wednesday 17th April at 11am.
Each session is free however donations are welcome.
