Fundraisers can Glow for Myton in Coventry!

The Myton Hospices is encouraging people to walk, dance or jog 5k around Coventry city centre to raise money so it can continue providing its services to people with life limiting and terminal illnesses, and their families.

The Myton Hospices is encouraging people to walk, dance or jog 5k around Coventry city centre to raise money so it can continue providing its services to people with life limiting and terminal illnesses, and their families.

Taking place on Saturday 30th March, people can wear their best – and worst – neon gear and flashing accessories to take on the course which features neon powder paint, a UV bubble tunnel, Zumba warm up led by Matt Print, an international DJ and much more!

Anyone who registers by Sunday 3rd March will pay just £15 to take part in this event! Registration will cost £20 per person after this date.

As well as enjoying an evening out with friends and family, people are encouraged to raise sponsorship money to help the charity hit its ambitious target of £61,000. This money would mean more people like Mandy Kinsey can spend their final days surrounded by loved ones, comfortable and well cared for.

After falling ill on holiday in Spain in 2016, Mandy was told she had Stage 4 Lung Cancer. She started treatment for the cancer and in January 2017 was told the treatment had shrunk the majority of the tumours.

But just a month later another scan revealed she had a secondary cancer on her brain and spine. In June 2017 Mandy had a seizure and was admitted to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire. She spent five days in hospital but asked if she could be referred to Myton.

As soon as they walked through the front door at Warwick Myton Hospice the whole family felt a sense of calm. They were able to stay in our family accommodation on site to be close to Mandy. She soon came round and although she couldn’t talk, she was able to sign to her daughters Cheryl and Dani that she loved them – something which they said was ‘perfect’.

A few days after being admitted to Myton, Mandy’s condition worsened and her daughters knew they didn’t have long left with their mum. They sat either side of her bed, holding her hand and listening to her breathing through her final hours.

Rebecca Richards, Assistant Events Manager at The Myton Hospices, said: “We are really excited to bring Glow for Myton back to Coventry! We’re hoping this event will bring everything Ibiza to the city and will be our biggest and best glow event yet!”

The charity also wants to thank Crowngate Construction who have kindly sponsored the event.
