The short film takes viewers on a journey through the centre and explores the world-class sport and fitness facilities that will be on offer, giving people the first sight of the cutting-edge hub.
The Sport and Wellness Hub, which is being constructed by Wilmott Dixon, is part of a £49 million investment in the new centre and associated sports and physical activity facilities at the University of Warwick.
The investment will give the university one of the finest sports centres in the UK and will raise the bar for sports and fitness provision in Coventry and the surrounding area.
The computer-generated footage presents the first opportunity to see what the completed Sports and Wellness Hub will look like when it opens in April 2019.
It begins with a bird’s-eye view showing the centre’s setting in the nearby woodland before walking through the open-plan interior.
The three-minute video brings to life the new cutting-edge climbing centre in the heart of the centre for the first time, including the speed climbing wall, the only one in England and bouldering walls.
It reveals the 230-station gym, complete with views overlooking the surrounding woodland.
The 12 lane, 25-metre swimming pool is also showcased alongside a multi-purpose sports arena, sports hall, six glass-backed squash courts, 5 a side and fullsize outdoor sports pitches – all of which will be available for staff, students and the community to use.
Also featured is the combat hall, which will be a specialist martial arts space at the centre.
Lisa Dodd-Mayne, Director of Sport & Active Communities at the University of Warwick, said: “The digital fly-through brings the entire project to life and is a unique opportunity for everyone to see how it will look when it opens in Spring next year.
“This will be one of the finest centres of its kind across the UK and we believe this short film shows that and displays the true scale of the Hub as well as highlighting the cutting-edge facilities we will have on offer.
“It showcases the bright, open, accessible building design which has been at the heart of the build – ensuring that this will be a space for everyone to get active and play sport.
“This facility will provide world-class sporting and leisure facilities to students, staff and the community – and we cannot wait to deliver it for the people of Coventry and Warwickshire.
“We would encourage members of the public to get in touch with us and discover how they can take advantage of our new Sports and Wellness Hub.”
