Dallas Burston Polo Club raise over £3,000 for charity during annual Bonfire celebration

Bonfire Night is a yearly event held at Dallas Burston Polo Club in Southam and this year’s proceedings saw a record breaking 7000+ attendees enjoying the festivities, with over £3,000 raised for The Shakespeare’s Hospice.

The Shakespeare Hospice supports young people and adults in the community with a life limiting illness, providing the care and compassion they and their families need. Hospice fundraisers were on hand with buckets throughout Bonfire Night to take donations from the public, with Dallas Burston Polo Club then donating a further £3,000 from ticket sales after the event.

Major Richard Carney MBE says, “Everyone at Dallas Burston Polo Club looks forward to Bonfire Night and we would like to say a massive thank you to all the guests who attended and helped raise money for The Shakespeare’s Hospice. This year turned out to be one of the largest crowds we have ever had, so it would seem the public enjoy attending as much as we enjoy hosting these celebrations.”

Dallas Burston Polo Club has helped several great causes this year including contributing to the Southam in Bloom festivities, sponsoring local roller hockey club Midland Mooseheads trip to Spain and providing a safari tent venue for nearly 400 Girl Guides, Brownies, Rainbows and Rangers. The club also donated to the remembrance war-memorial commissioned in Southam and raised £14,000 on Ladies Day for The UK Sepsis Trust and The Prince’s Trust.

Children’s rides at this year’s Bonfire Night mini-funfair proved extremely popular and food stalls (serving everything from hotdogs and burgers to candy floss and toffee apples) remained busy throughout the evening. The night was capped off in style with a giant bonfire burning and a fabulous professional firework display, choreographed and launched by Komodo Fireworks.

Bonfire Night is just one of the annual events over the course of the year for the public to enjoy at the polo club. New attractions in recent times have included camel racing, fun-fairs and university polo tournaments. Picnicking around the pitches can be as affordable or luxurious as a visitor desires, with many attendees visiting the grounds simply to enjoy the stunning setting and first-class facilities on offer.

The multiple award-winning Dallas Burston Polo Club, Pride of Stratford Business of the Year 2018, features Europe’s largest all-weather SuperArena® for equestrian events, six polo grounds, a colonial Clubhouse, wedding venues, the IXL Events Centre and The Millstone Hare – a £2.4m Olde English styled pub with state-of-the-art facilities and incredible views over the grounds.
