They say history repeats itself.
Derek’s working life began in South Africa in the early 1970’s where he drove the Barclays mobile bank into the remote tribal regions to service their customers’ financial requirements.
As technology took a hold Derek found his niche and expertise and began working in IBM where he enjoyed the challenge of keeping abreast with the fast-moving and ever-changing technical world. In 1996 Derek, with his wife and four young children, left Africa to continue working in IBM, Warwick.
In 2003 Derek decided he had ‘done his bit’ for the corporate world and wanted to pursue one of his great loves which is driving. Having made this decision, he decided he wanted to not only drive but also serve his customers as a chauffeur.
Being ambitious Derek felt there was one more step to make and that was to work for himself.
He became part of a national chauffeur franchise and then in 2009, along with several chauffeur colleagues formed BCD – B Chauffeur Driven
Derek says that chauffeuring ensures there are never two days the same, “I could be transporting an A-list celebrity to their event on Tuesday, taking an excited family to the airport on Thursday and ensuring someone arrives at their hospital appointment on time on Friday.
