Seven Top Tips to Power Up Your AI Use

Low-cost and no-cost AI tools can offer significant benefits to your business. Here are seven top tips to get started.

1.

Look beyond the hype

AI tools are here to stay. ChatGPT is the best known, but have you seen it in action? Capabilities include writing content, translation, internet search, summarising files, data analysis and creating documents – plus producing images, charts etc. A good place to start is by considering how these tools can save you and your team time.

2.

GIGO – “garbage in, garbage out”

A common issue is people trying out the tools, but not getting the expected result. These complex models, seem simple because they can hold a conversation, but a bit like managing people you need to ask them questions in the right way. Mastering the basics of prompting (giving instructions) will give a foundation for exploration.

3.

Save time with common tasks

Would you like someone to write up your meeting notes for you? This is one of the tasks that can be easily outsourced to an AI assistant. Will the results be perfect, no, they’ll still need checking and editing. Your AI assistant will hopefully save you 50% of the time, not 100%.

4.

Get it to write like you (or your company)

Can you spot the posts written with assistance from AI tools? We all think we can, but hopefully not the good ones. ChatGPT can be shown how to write like you or in your brand style, and asked not to write like it is an AI tool. This means that your content calendar could be created in half the time; however, editing is still definitely required

5.

Create the ideal visual

When you need an image to tell a story for a presentation, proposal, or post, it can be tempting to ‘borrow’ one from Google images (make sure you double check the copyright). Now you can create that ideal visual with one of the picture generating AI tools – that could be Dall-E in ChatGPT, or Stable Diffusion or Midjourney.

6.

Speed up your sales pitches

Customisation is increasingly becoming key, and here ChatGPT can help. Tell it about your customer by sharing meeting notes, asking it to research them online or by sharing details from your CRM. Then ask ChatGPT to customise that proposal. It will give you a first draft in less than a minute, to then refine.

7.

Recruit your dream team

Even if you don’t use it, your applicants might, so ChatGPT should be factored into your thinking if you’re looking to recruit. But why not let it help you? Simple applications include creating a job description, turning that into an advert, suggesting where to advertise and even drafting the interview questions for you to review.
