Membership & Sales Account Manager

The Membership & Sales Account Manager will be a motivated and business-savvy individual, reporting directly to the Membership & International Trade Manager. You'll be the main contact for a range of Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber members, keeping them informed about benefits, events and services, along with spotting new commercial opportunities. Your job will involve regular communication, attending business meetings, and using social media to boost member engagement and satisfaction.

This role is perfect for someone with experience in account management, business development, or sales, ideally in a membership organisation. Job Purpose:

This role reports directly into the Membership & International Trade Manager and has responsibility for account managing and securing commercial revenue opportunities from their allocated Chamber Members, by way of introducing benefits and services the Chamber provides and sharing commercial offerings across an array of services. The purpose of this role is to ensure that our Chamber members have a first point of contact and that they are continuously engaged/made aware of all Chamber activities and sales opportunities across the business to ensure KPI’s and targets are met.

As part of this role, the individual will be expected to manage and establish strong relationships with all clients associated with the Chamber, regularly attending business meetings and Chamber networking events when required.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To be the first point of contact engaging with and managing a portfolio of Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce members ensuring that they are continuously kept up to date with all relevant Chamber activities and therefore renew their membership.
  • To meet all individual retention and sales targets, KPI’s and objectives, ensuring that contribution supports Chambers overall objectives and success across Membership and any other relative areas of the business.
  • To have regular communication with members, attending meetings and account reviews on a continual basis both in person, telephone and online, ensuring the retention process is followed with each client meeting the needs of the member.
  • To make full use of Social Media channels to; promote Chamber benefits, engage with clients and promote all other Chamber activity.
  • Using your existing portfolio to develop new business opportunities throughout the Chamber, with a key focus on driving Commercial activity and identifying new opportunities for revenue streams.
  • To work closely with the Membership & International Trade Manager in supporting all relevant Chamber members, ensuring that our members use our services, get value for money and ultimately continue to renew with us.
  • Ensure that the retention process is followed with each individual client(s) so that members needs are met.
  • Ensuring that all client engagement and activity is logged on the Chamber’s CRM system.
  • Support the wider Membership team in communication and reactive enquiries when required.
  • Monitor and report on performance of membership for both recruitment and retention, providing regular statistics to the Membership & International Trade Manager.
  • Support the marketing and events team in attending Chamber events, using these opportunities to engage with our client base.
  • Support direct team in sharing specific tasks to ensure management of regular reports, management of email in boxes such as info@ and action any member/non-member enquiries.
  • Promote and sell all Chamber services including exhibitions, paid events and sponsorship.
  • Manage membership credit control within own retention area and support the wider team.
  • To complete any additional duties to fulfil overall Chamber objectives.

Person Specification: 

  • Commercially astute - with a proven ability to quickly understand a new business or industry and the challenges and opportunities it presents.
  • Strong networking and communications skills.
  • A strong understanding of all the Chamber benefits that are available as well as all ongoing Chamber activities across the organisation.
  • A broad understanding of both client & business needs.
  • A broad knowledge of strategic and operational issues affecting businesses.
  • Ability to analyse own performance.
  • A keen eye for an opportunity and know how to pursue and close a deal.
  • Excellent listening skills with the ability to interpret information and make connections
  • An extremely positive can-do attitude.
  • Conversant with social media/LinkedIn.
  • Able to work flexible hours, e.g attend breakfast and evening events.
  • Driving license and use of a car for business purposes.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in an Account Management/business development/sales experience ideally gained in a membership organisation or business to business environment.
