We are looking for a dynamic and results-driven Key Account Manager & Sales to drive new business opportunities, manage partner relationships, and enhance Destination Coventry’s presence across the region.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in account management, sales, and business development, with the ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders. This role requires a proactive individual who can identify and secure new partnerships, ensure high levels of partner retention, and represent Destination Coventry at networking events and industry forums. Strong communication, relationship management, and organisational skills are essential, as well as the flexibility to travel and attend events outside of standard working hours.

Main duties and responsibilities
• Proactively identify partnership opportunities & sales
• Account management & ensure retention of partners
• Represent Destination Coventry at a wide range of events
• Support the Sales Strategy Development
Role and responsibilities:
• Proactively identify and pursue partnership opportunities with regional businesses and community organisations to support City development initiatives
• Negotiate and secure new partnerships, ensuring this aligns with the strategic objectives of Destination Coventry.
• Build and maintain strong, long-lasting working relationships with existing internal and external partners, building trust to ensure continued collaboration.
• Regularly check in with partners to ensure agreements are fulfilled and to explore new opportunities for collaboration. Address any concerns, provide excellent customer service and identify areas for improvement.
• Manage the retention process for existing partners ensuring renewal and discussing potential for upgrading their level of partnership.
• Act as a key representative of Destination Coventry, meeting with local businesses and other stakeholders to create strong relationships and promote partnership opportunities.
• Attend networking, community and business events to engage with potential partners to promote Destination Coventry’s activities.
• Foster positive relationships with external organisations to strengthen Coventry’s commercial and social presence in the region.
• Assist with the development of sales strategies, helping to set revenue targets and identify key sectors for partnership growth.
• Use market research and trends to identify areas for improvement and inform strategic decisions on partnership sales and retention.
• Prepare and present regular sales and retention reports to the Managing Director, including progress towards targets and recommendations for future action.
• Work closely with the wider Destination Coventry Team, including the Visitor Information Centre (VIC) with regards to marketing, events and economic development to ensure that partnership duties are maximised and align with city-wide goals.
• Rotational support for out of hours to our Visitor Information Centre.
• Occasional attendance to some events will be outside of normal working hours which you will be expected to attend such as breakfast meets or evening events.
• Any other duties and responsibilities required as part of the key account management and sales role.
Person Specification:
• Proven sales ability with experience in business development, negotiating partnership deals, and achieving revenue targets.
• Strong understanding of sales techniques and partnership sales strategies.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple partnerships at various stages of the sales and retention process.
• Excellent communication skills including professional written-reporting and presentation skills; or communication, persuasion and negotiation.
• Highly organised with strong time management skills, able to prioritise client visits, meetings and administrative tasks effectively.
• Ability to work as part of a small team while managing multiple sales and retention initiatives simultaneously.
• Proficiency in using CRM systems and sales tracking tools to manage partner relationships and track sales progress.
• Ability to analyse data and produce reports on sales performance, partnership status and retention efforts.
• Strong experience in a partnership sales or business development role previously.
• Proven sales experience and track-record of achieving sales targets and maintaining high levels of partner retention.
• Experience in managing relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including businesses and community organisations.
• Experience working in a client focused role with significant external engagement is highly desirable.
• Experience in account management, customer service or community engagement is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel frequently within Coventry and the surrounding region, with occasional travel further afield as and when required.
• Great personal skills as follows: positive outlook, great communicator, proactive, and a can do attitude.
