The Coventry & Warwickshire Redundancy Support Service is a collaborative service created by Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council and partners Department for Work & Pensions and the CW Growth Hub.

Services
The service is designed to bring partners and industry experts together to support local businesses through these challenging times as they are forced to make some difficult decisions about their workforce & business. There is no denying rising operational costs are having a significant impact on our economy, creating financial strains on businesses, forcing them take steps in triggering survival plans and in some cases sadly close their doors. Due to the unpredictable nature of the economy this service has been designed to be ongoing as required.
As a service, the relevant partners and work streams will offer a highly responsive and effective service to help businesses navigate through such turbulent times, whilst equipping them with tools and guidance to make plans for the future, whatever the outcome might be. Over the coming months, we will launch a programme of activity encouraging businesses and those facing redundancy to engage with us and access the support available. From workshops and virtual Clinics to live job fairs and training opportunities, our supportive services will be designed to be flexible and shaped to meet individual needs.
Prevention
Whilst in some cases Job loss might be inevitable; we hope to engage with businesses who are working through their options and may be suitable for a number of interventions. From emergency funding and finance opportunities to reskilling and staff retainment options, our service will provide collaborative support to explore the options available and build action plans to become more sustainable through periods of uncertainty, preventing job losses and company closures wherever possible.
Our delivery partners
The selection of partners who support the service are established industry experts with an extensive understanding of the Coventry and Warwickshire economy and a clear vison of the support needed. Our partners will respond to support needs and seamlessly cross refer where additional support needs are identified. It is expected that as the service becomes established and needs grow, the need to introduce additional partners may be needed and discussed collectively.
CWLEP Growth Hub
To CWLEP Growth Hub provide a front door service to businesses wishing to engage in the support. The CWLEP GH team offer business support to explore business needs and shape a support plan, signposting to relevant partners and activities as needed. A further digital investment has also been provided by the CWLEP to shape and create a new interactive platform where business and those looking for work can register and explore opportunities and workshops available. The CWFindit Employment portal and CWRSS will be built upon and adapted to meet local need, providing an easily accessible space for business to access tools, advice and register for updates.

Department for Work and Pensions
To support the running of a wide number of sessions with the option of inviting those engaged with the programme to make applications for further support. A blend of business support and employment support means DWP can offer established service and work with us to address various barriers people might have to re-entering the job market. For Employers making over 20 redundancies, there is a statutory requirement for DWP to directly support and record redundancies. Job brokerage is part of this service and the wider partnership will support where the business accepts the support with DWP/JCP colleagues.
National Careers Service
The National Careers Service can support individuals who have faced redundancy to find employment, make a career change, identify their transferrable skills, create and update CV’s, develop Interview techniques and conduct skills analysis.
Serco – Skills Support for Redundancy
Working alongside National Careers Service, SSR offer an extended, tailored service to meet needs of individuals with a wide range of additional training and retraining opportunities which are fully funded and accessible for up to 3 months post redundancy.
Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce - Start Up Support
Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce is a Business-led, not-for-profit organisation that has formed part of the fabric of this locality for some one hundred and twenty years, providing crucial b2b connectivity for all businesses from micro and small businesses to medium and larger businesses alongside a business lifecycle of services including how to grow your small business, thinking global and local and how to embed the right skills into your new business. The C&W Chamber Start-Up Team can provide free coaching and advice to clients who are considering or have recently started a new business in Coventry & Warwickshire. The support helps individuals to launch their new venture. Whatever type of business, this support can help plan and put into motion, certain critical elements, including:
- Free workshops: Starting a business, business planning, finance, marketing and media
- Advice and guidance on aspects involved in setting up a business
- One-to-one mentoring from an experienced Business Adviser
Additionally, our business support team can offer impartial business advice to established small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME's) based in Coventry and Warwickshire.
The business support services are part funded by the UK Government as part of the UK Shared Prosperity Funding (via Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, Rugby Borough Council and Warwick District Council). Funding is also provided by Warwickshire County Council and Stratford District Council.

Federation of Small Business
With significant experience in developing resources to support SME’s, the FSB teams can support with resource and event development providing links to blogs and webinars connecting business to the CWRSS support. As an organisation with significant representation across Coventry and Warwickshire, FSB are well placed to offer business intelligence on barriers and support needs of Small to Medium sized businesses.
Our Support
As a service we recognise businesses and those facing redundancy may wish to engage with the services available in different ways, perhaps some more discreet than others and at a time to suit them. The range of support will be accessible for all and driven by those accessing it. There will be a range of e-packs for those who do not wish to directly engage with the service and a range of events and supportive links for those who would benefit from direct support and guidance.

E-Packs are designed for business who would prefer to download and view the information at leisure and may choose to reach out for further support when the time is right and additional support needed.
