The Amethyst Centre
A Coventry business that provides physical and energy therapies has found peace of its own through opening a new holistic therapy centre.
Chris Ramsbottom, who has worked as a holistic therapist for several years, has opened up her own centre situated on Walsgrave Road, with help from the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce.
The Amethyst Centre, which promotes wellbeing and holistic health, has established several branches to the business, including blogging, an online shop, readings and several types of therapies.
As well as the current services, Chris, along with three other practitioners, offer therapist training courses for all levels of therapy – including day courses and longer training courses.
Chris said: “I have a wealth of experience in what works and what doesn’t work in a mixed centre and with this knowledge feel I am able to create a one stop shop for the people of Coventry who are looking for a comprehensive programme of holistic support.
“I have worked as a holistic therapist for many years but the dream was always to open up my own practice, so I’m really excited to see how we can grow.”
In addition to dealing with the business needs, Chris also took on the role of project managing the considerable building work needed on the property as well as raising the finances required.
Now the centre provides three well-equipped treatment rooms available for hire as well as a one large room which is the whole of the second floor, suitable for meetings and training purposes.
Chris said: “I found the support the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce provided was invaluable, particular my mentor Wendy Brown. To have someone with more experience than me in setting up businesses and provide mentorship during that time including the highs and the lows kept me focussed on what was a huge undertaking for me.”
The Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce is currently delivering the start-up assistance as part of Coventry and Warwickshire Business Support Programme part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Wendy Brown said: “Chris faced many challenges particularly during the building works as well as raising finances but careful planning and having an open mind to overcoming problems enabled her to fulfil her goals.”
